WILLISTON -- Oil, gas and fracking fluid is leaking from an oil well near Tioga days after local authorities learned about the problem.

Williams County emergency coordinator Mike Hallesy says he was notified Friday evening and the leak hasn't stopped. But he says it has been contained by berms.

Department of Mineral Resources spokeswoman Alison Ritter says the well is protected by a confidentiality agreement, so her office can only confirm that a spill has occurred and give the general location of the well and its owner. Information about confidential wells is withheld from the public for up to six months.

Denver-based Emerald Oil owns the well.

A well control company connected to Halliburton has been called in to try to stop the flow.
