Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A busy day downtown meant a change in pace for some local businesses.

For retail stores not selling running merchandise Saturday might have been slow.

But for those selling anything you can drink or eat this was a big day.

Broadway was closed to cars between 1st and 4th Avenue North Saturday leaving it wide open for foot traffic.

Coffee and sandwich shops opened early and brought in all the resources at their disposal, all to prep for one of the most hectic days of the year.

Jessica Balderas/General Manager – Erbert and Gerbert’s: “The days leading up to the big event for the last two days, the kids marathon and then the 5k yesterday has really amped up our business, we've done. Probably anywhere from an extra thousand to 1500 dollars each day.”

While the marathon's been good to many local businesses; most say they're excited for the madness to die down and things to get back to normal.
