Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - If Viking fans have learned anything over the past few years, it's not to leave the draft early!

For the third straight year, Rick Spielman traded back into the first round late last night

As the Vikings got their quarterback in Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater was high on the Vikings wish list, at times he was the top projected player in this draft.

He fell because of a bad pro day, but Minnesota worked him out privately and that's what sold the Vikes.

Teddy Bridgewater/ Drafted by Vikings 32nd Overall: “I got the call from Rick Spielman. He basically said, I told you we were going to get you. I'm sorry we had you waiting a little bit and it happened. He never told me when he would take me, but I told him when I was up in Minnesota that I wanted to be a Viking and that I wanted to be a Viking bad because it would be like quarterback heaven. You're coming into an offense with a great offensive line, great runningback, great group of wide receivers, great guys at the tight end position. It's like hey, now you have a bunch of weapons to help you out also.”

The Vikings traded their 2nd round pick to Seattle to move back in, they have two third round picks, draft starts in a half hour.
