Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Since the first Fargo Marathon ten years ago the race has grown from 2,000 to more than 20,000 runners.
As he laid out the logistics for the weekend, Fargo Marathon director Mark Knutson brought in guests, athletes and speakers some here for the very first Fargo Marathon.
For this year's 10th anniversary organizers are expecting between 22 and 23 thousand participants total.
They say last night's Youth Run was a great kickoff and tonight's 5K, and tomorrow's races will successfully cap off the weekend.
Dick Beardsley/ Spoke at First Fargo Marathon: "It's unbelievable. For an event like this, to grow that large in such a short period of time, it just doesn't happen. It really doesn't happen without a lot of community support."
Organizers urge people to line streets and sidewalks tonight for the 5K and during tomorrow's races beginning at 8 am.
