Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - NDSU has three functions: Education, research and the lesser known extension service.

Thursday the illustrations of Steve Stark helped the school to remember its history, and celebrate its 100th birthday.

The program works to bring education from NDSU to rest of North Dakota, and has agents in each of the state's 53 counties.

Extension's main focus is in agriculture, and works to help farmers throughout the state get the best out of their resources in order to promote sales and improve the state's economy.

Chris Boerboom/NDSU Extension Director: “Without the extension service I don't think agriculture would be as productive and as profitable and protecting the resources that we do as we do today.”

Boerboom says that pioneers of the extension program would gawk at practices today, but the goal of improving agriculture in North Dakota remains the same.
