A man stabbed another man in the arm with a knife shortly before 2 p.m. today in a construction zone near the interchange of Interstate 94 and 25th Street South, police said.

Lt. Vettel said the stabbing occurred on 25th Street, south of I-94, apparently in a vehicle. A man ran from the scene, crossing the interstate through a caged walkway, with construction workers pursuing him, Vettel said.

Police created a perimeter around the area, and located the man who fled shortly after. Medics treated the victim for injuries that were not life threatening, Vettel said.

It’s not clear if the men knew each other or if they were riding in the same vehicle. The motivation for the stabbing is also unknown, the lieutenant said.

The man who fled was described as a black man with an Afro. He stood 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white string.
