Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's a sure sign that summer isn't too far off, the RedHawks open exhibition play in a few minutes up at Newman Outdoor field against St. Paul.

The team held their first workouts on Saturday.

Skipper Doug Simunic is back for a 19th season.

A lot of the veterans are back from a team that has won 2 straight north division titles, Zach Penprase, Nic Jackson, Jake Laber, and others.

That's what makes this team such a tight-knit group.

Ronnie Bourquin/Redhawks 3rd baseman: “I joke back home because these guys are my friends during the season and then I have friends back home. They are a big part of my life, everybody in this organization is, because I see them on a daily basis. It just makes it fun coming to the park and knowing that the guys beside you in the locker room and the guys on the field. They're there for you. They are your family for the four months and you look forward to that.”
