Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - After a long winter, contractors and home builders are scrambling to get houses up.
But a series of rainy days have left developments a muddy mess.
If you want chaos just come to any of the new developments in the metro area.
It's a mud-fest.
What a day at work. Knee high boots. Walking around what at times seems like a swamp. After 48-hours of rain, new housing developments are swimming in muck. Contractors are arriving on site, to those places they can get.
Andrew Rice/ Valley Plumbing: “Too muddy, we got one that is a quarter mile to the house and we cannot get to it, it is too much mud. “
And so workers have laid down plywood so they can get from the building site to their trucks on the street, and raised up electrical to keep that out of the water.
Equipment as some building sites are mired in mud.
Rice: “You see fork lifts and lifts stuck everywhere.”
Near the Preserve in West Fargo, foundation builders like Concrete Pros are having to pump out dug holes, just to begin work.
Jon Lattergrass/ Concrete Pros.: “Probably two feet of water in the hole and had to pump for two hours and had to take the pumps to another site so we can pump another hole and now we have a forecast of more rain and that hurts us in the pocket.”
The good news a lot of home building going on.
The down side, the pleasant weather seems to be playing, hard to get.
