Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It may be mid-April but based off of the enthusiasm on display from a few die-hard fans decked out in green and gold outside of the Fargodome Saturday morning you'd think it was September.
Brent Nelson says he and his friends NEVER miss Bison tailgating for every home game; they are there with their "vintage" green and gold school bus.
Brent Nelson/Bison Fan: "We like to say it's the original Bison Bus." "Cause it is!"
And why should this game be any different?
The die-hard fans showed up to tailgate NDSU's annual Green-Gold spring football game.
It's been about four months since the last home game, but for these tailgating enthusiasts, that's too long.
Nelson: "That's why the spring game is great; it gets you back excited for the season."
And there is a lot to be excited about.
The team is coming off their third straight FCS national championship.
With a new head coach this year, many fans are interested to see what will follow that success.
Zach Schaible/Bison Fan: "Just come out, see people and support the Bison for the new season."
The crowd was noticeably more sparse than it was during the fall season.
When, rain, shine or snow the lot is always packed.
But those who showed up say staying home wasn't an option.
Schaible: "It just shows you the people that really have heart for this college and people that want to see the college succeed."
