Garden City, ID (CNN) - All kinds of business signs line Chinden Boulevard in Garden City, but one at The Ranch Club really grabbed attention - take a closer look. It says, “Monday Night Come Get F-Up.”
That's about as close to the F-word as you can get without literally going there. As soon as we inquired at the club about the sign, an employee climbed a ladder and took it down. We showed a photo of the sign to people around town.
Terri Zwingler-Harper - Boise Resident: "I think that was kind of nasty. I mean kids go by that. That's not setting a good example. I don't know what that place is, but I'd avoid it at all costs."
Steve - Boise Resident: "I think that's very inappropriate, myself. That kind of language shouldn't be out so everybody can see."
Lisa Ashton - Meridian Resident: "I think everybody's entitled to speak their mind. It is freedom of speech. I can totally see why that would be offensive, and I wouldn't go there just because of that."
But is it legal? Garden City City Hall said that their sign ordinance has nothing about regulating the message content of a sign. They say that's a First Amendment issue.
The owner of The Ranch Club told us on the phone the sign must have been put up, quote, "unintentionally." he said somebody may have been walking by and changed around the letters.
