Horace, ND (WDAY TV) - Unfortunately the grass fire wasn't the only local blaze we have to tell you about.

Fire consumed a home in Horace, North Dakota Saturday.

A quiet Saturday morning in Horace was suddenly broken with smoke filling the streets.

"We saw people running, and smoke coming out."

And the sound of sirens whizzing by windows.

"You just thought it was on TV and stuff. That wasn't it, it just kept ringing."

A fire started in the sunroom of a home and soon the entire house was engulfed.

One woman inside smelled the smoke and got outside while a neighbor called 911.

With no nearby hydrant, the battle against the flames meant trucks from Horace, West Fargo, and Davenport hauled water back and forth.

Brent Hansen/Neighbor/Volunteer: "This is my buddy's house I'm one of the guys that helped build it. They're out of town so we are using their driveway as a staging area for the trucks."

"It took about two hours to put the fire out, but afterward firefighters continued to pour water on it to keep it from flaring up."

No one was injured, but the home was a total loss.

Through the whole ordeal, neighbors in the tight-knit community did what they could to help, like getting bottled water for the firefighters and directing traffic.

Hansen: "That's just what I do. When I see the community needs help, I help."

No word yet on the cause of that fire.
