West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Cambria is just one of several new edgy hotels going up in the metro area. It opens the beginning of next week.

In the last 20 years, 24 new hotels have gone up in Fargo-Moorhead

But it has been the last decade that hotel building has exploded.

We are next to the Hilton Garden Inn, where next door Home-2 is going up.

Yet another hotel going up during this hospitality building boom.

Near Home Depot, crews are working on a new Holiday Inn Express.

And an Element by Westin is going up near Veterans Boulevard and Interstate 94.

A trendy, techy business travelers dream. All this construction. Why? Hotel investors and managers say, that’s easy.

Michael Lusick/Cambria Suites: “A lot going on here ten years ago if you said we are going to Fargo they would say, Where? Now they say going to Fargo and they say that is interesting the market is growing and I think there are plenty of opportunity here and it needs an upscale hotel.”

Build new hotels and retailers will follow, restaurants, a ton of them. In fact a new dinning guide boasts more than 400 in the metro area.

Nicole Holden/Fargo-Moorhead CVB: “Whether it is the corporate traveler or the leisure or whole team looking for hockey tournament it is nice to have the options.”

Eight more hotels will go up this year, in the last ten years, Fargo Moorhead has added 13 new hotels.

That's over a thousand more rooms. The metro area now boasts 57 hotels and more than 5,000 rooms in town. That number will explode with another 8 hotels coming in during 2014.

Lusick: "We travel around the country and there are places that are struggling but you come here and you feel the vibrancy even in the cold weather there is a sense of energy in the community."

And one more hotel will join the busy I-94/ Veterans Boulevard corner.

A 64-Room "My Place" hotel will join Cambria, and the Westin hotels this year.
