Retired U.S. Senator Dorgan visits UND

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Former Senator Byron Dorgan returned to his alma mater, to talk politics.

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Former Senator Byron Dorgan returned to his alma mater, to talk politics.

Dorgan told UND students he doesn't regret stepping down from the senate three years ago, because it has given him time to do other things.

He wrote books, he chaired the Center for Native American Youth an organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people on reservations.

Byron Dorgan/Retired U.S. Senator: “You pick up the paper and you see these issues play out and you think here is the way they should handle those issue. You never really get rid of that impulse or that urge.”

Dorgan served 12 years in the House of Representatives and 18 years in the Senate.
