Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - And no doubt many people will be putting those additional funds to good use or to paying in for taxes.
The window to get your taxes done is quickly closing, we've got less than 72 hours left before the deadline.
And for tax associates working overtime: those 72 hours are the busiest of the season.
Carol Pearson/Filed Taxes: "We're done and it feels great!"
For all the procrastinating tax payers out there, the clock is ticking.
Pearson: "I teach at NDSU and time is short and so.. Haha"
About 1 in 4 Americans will wait until the last two weeks to file.
Pearson: "I think we finished up Wednesday or Thursday."
But for those who haven't, don't worry, there's still hope.. And two days left.
Tammie Hughes/H&R Block Tax Associate: "I love crunching numbers. I love the tax return, it's just like a puzzle sometimes."
Tax associates like Tammie Hughes are working overtime to piece together returns their customers are filing in to fill out.
Hughes: "Most of the ones that we're going to see now in the next few days are the ones who haven't been as prepared and have just realized that the time frame is Tuesday."
And although the mad rush is good for business, It might not be best for your pocketbook, or peace of mind.
Hughes: "Sometimes if you come in on that deadline on the 15th and you're missing a form or there's some kind of information we can't get, it might be a little harder to finish in time."
So just remember come tax season if it's fast cash you’re craving
Pearson: "We get a little refund so that's even better."
Scrambling during the 11th hour often means last minute mistakes.
H&R Block is offering extended hours until Tuesday... with locations open from 9 in the morning until 8 at night. .. If you're not going to make it, the best bet is to apply for an extension.
