St. Paul, MN (WDAY TV) - So, that means the Wild draw Colorado in the first round, and even though it will be just the 5th playoff appearance all-time for Minnesota, these two teams already have some great playoff history.

This will be the 3rd meeting for the Wild and Avalanche in the conference quarterfinals and first since 2008.

In 2003, the Wild notched its signature moment as a franchise, when Andrew Brunette scored in overtime in game 7 against Colorado, to send Minnesota to the conference semifinals.

The Wild's season eventually ended in the conference semi's with a loss to Anaheim.

Former UND standout Brad Malone has been in the Avalanche lineup since mid-March.

The Wild wraps up it's season tonight hosting Matt Cullen and the Nashville Predators.

The playoffs open Thursday in Colorado.
