Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It was one year ago that Fargo was putting out the call for volunteers to come to Sandbag Central to put together one million sandbags.

Today, there are two million empty bags stored in town; and 750,000 "filled” bags in storage around the city.

A far different year from last April, when volunteers flooded Sandbag Central to fill bags for the spring flood fight.

Neighborhoods that endured the chaos of trucks, forklifts and frayed nerves a year ago, are all quiet today.

Tom Fowler/North Fargo Resident: “I just say not having to prepare is a relief we are out doing this instead of putting up a dike some place.”

In the 2013 flood fight the city of Fargo laid down just over a mile of sandbag dikes.
