Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - The biggest of those fires found its way to a bridge near Hawley and sent it up in flames.
The only structure that caught fire was this wooden bridge southwest of Hawley, the train tracks pass underneath.
The flames quickly spread until the entire bridge was engulfed.
The result was a charred mess not safe to walk across, much less drive.
That stretch of 220th Street will now be closed, but firefighters worked to get to where trains could safely pass underneath.
Mark Empting/Clay County Deputy: "Logistically, this has been somewhat of a nightmare. With just about every fire department in Clay County responding, as well as other agencies and Hawley police."
Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says conditions right now are very dry, despite the recent snow.
