Dickinson, ND (WDAY TV) - Look at Facebook and Twitter. We love our pets, a lot.

But wait ‘til you see what a Western North Dakota family is doing, in order to help save the life of their dog and how a litter of pups from Fargo, may hold the key.

Here it is, a plea from Sadie Mae, a beautiful, 4-year old Boxer battling T-cell Lymphoma.

Ashley Hurlbert/ Owner of Sadie: “She is as lively as it gets, she will lick your face to death.

Sadie's owner, Ashley Hurlbert of Dickinson, would do anything to save Sadie Mae even if the cost is high.

Hurlbert: “I am sure there are a lot of people who probably would not get what we are willing to do, but she is our family.”

And so, Ashely is turning to Social Media, Facebook, in an effort to find a donor, to help with a bone marrow transplant for Sadie. What the boxer will need, in order to survive.

Hurlbert: “I really thought it was a super long shot. And I thought why not?”

And so Ashley turned to family for help, not her family, but Sadie’s family, her mother and father back in Fargo and the litter of puppies.

Kamie Johnson was more than willing to help out Ashley. Kamie's two Boxers are the mom and dad for Sadie. While they are not matches, it appears one of the other puppies from the same litter Sadie came from is a match. The lab is running a test.

Kamie Johnson/ Owns Parents of Sadie: “She is my baby girl and if she was Sadie it would break my heart.”

Hurlbert: “Each litter mate has a 25 percent chance of being a match for Sadie.”

The Facebook response has been overwhelming.

Johnson: “Less than 24 hours, they had 2000 some shares.”

Sadie Mae will finish chemo shortly then it is on to a bone marrow transplant. The Hurlberts will pay for any dog to make the trip for the procedure; after all, the Hurlberts will do anything for family, four legs or two.

For dogs, the transplant is similar to a dialysis procedure with no discomfort to the donor dog.
