Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Fargo Force will play their final two games of the season at Scheels Arena this weekend and it will bring to an end the worst season in franchise history.
It's been a complete 180, for a team that reached the Clark Cup Finals a year ago.
The team lost a lot of talent in the offseason, and it showed, with win-less streaks of 17 games and 10 games throughout the year.
They're guaranteed to finish with the worst record for a USHL team since the 2010-11 season.
But, the players haven't mailed it in.
They finished March with a winning record at 6-4-1.
Neal Goff/ Force Defenseman (2 goals this season): “It's really difficult for anyone to go through a season like this but in any situation that is obviously not ideal you find the positives in it and that's just what we have done this year.
Mike Babcock/ Force Forward (7 goals this season): “I don't think the spirits have been up 100% of the time. There's been times where it has been bad, there's times where guys haven't really liked each other just because we where losing, but you can slowly see over the year you can see we have built more confidence with each other.”
In other USHL news, the league announced they conditionally approved the addition of an expansion team in Bloomington, Illinois Tuesday.
They will start play next season along with a franchise in Madison, Wisconsin bringing the total number of teams to 18 in the league.
