Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - North Dakota's Public Service Commissioner is hoping to stay put come November.

Brian Kalk announced his plans to run for re-election Wednesday, making his way to Fargo to meet with voters Friday.

It's one of 18 stops across the state.

Kalk has served on the commission since his election in 2008.

He says his knowledge and experience makes him fit to continue tackling North Dakota's infrastructure issues.

Brian Kalk/ ND Public Service Commissioner: “I think the next 6 years even will be more important that we get pipelines built, get them maintained safely. That'll get some of the oil traffic off the railroads; let more room for our ag producers.”

Kalk doesn't have a Republican primary challenger for the June elections so far.

On the democratic side, businessman Todd Reisenauer is running for his party's nomination to challenge Kalk's seat.
