Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- After nearly 18 years to the day, Daryl is saying goodbye. He's moving on to a new chapter in his life, something most of you are familiar with, daytime work hours!

No fooling, it was April 1st, 1996. Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" was number 1 on the Billboard charts.

Some of you weren't even born, that's when Daryl came on board here.

WDAY/WDAZ was his third TV job after stints in Sioux Falls and Mankato.

A short five months later, the man with a witty sense of humor, moved from weekends to mornings when First News started September 9th, 1996.

Throughout the years, Daryl remained cool, calm, and collected while covering mother nature's fury.

From a half hour show to an hour to two hours, throughout the decades, Daryl had to deal with his share of anchors.

All along the way, Daryl remained a presence in the mornings, from his accurate forecasting to his infectious smile to bubbly banter.

We all will sure miss waking with the Daryl.
