Wahpeton, ND (WDAY TV) - The Wahpeton fire department is calling an early morning fire "suspicious."
Authorities were called to 1626 10th Street North at Sunset Trailer Court.
The owner moving out. Renters moving in. Luckily, no one was home at the time.
The mobile homes owner declined to be on camera, but commented on the fact that he had bought this place just a month ago and he was moving out, new renters were set to move in this Saturday.
Or at least that was the plan - until 2:30 this morning.
Derek Miller/Chief, Wahpeton Fire Department: "Numerous neighbors called it in simultaneously"
We spoke to some of visibly shaken neighbors off camera - who say it was a cacophony of flashing flights.
In fact, one homeowner said the smell of smoke was so overpowering at first she thought her trailer was one fire.
Scott Thorsteinson/Chief, Wahpeton Police Department: "The fire was actually in the attached entry-way and when our officers arrived it was fully-engulfed."
Wahpeton Police took these pictures of the raging flames as it ate away at the mobile home.
Thorsteinson: "They began knocking on the doors of residents in close proximity to make them alert so that they could leave in case of it spreading or the smoke."
Fire Chief Derek Miller says firefighters battled the fire for two hours.
Miller: "The houses as tight as they are and vehicles right out in front, it does have its disadvantages."
They were able to quickly get a grasp of the fire because the northside station is just two blocks away from the trailer court.
The state fire Marshall was here this morning looking at the burn pattern, again it does look suspicious and the investigation is on-going.
The trailer is a total loss, Authorities say the home was not insured.
