Kragnes, MN (WDAY TV) - College Spring Break conjures up images of Florida beaches, fun in the sun and time away from snow and cold, but not a group of college students from Northwestern University in Chicago.

We caught up with a dozen students from Northwestern who are spending the week at "Riding on Angels' Wings," near Kragnes, Minnesota.

Rather than spring break at the beach, these students from Chicago cleaned out horse pens, as they waited to work with special needs children who come to the ranch for therapy, riding on the horses.

The Northwestern students will spend the week immersed in the unique local program.

Karen Wilber/ Northwestern Univ. Student: “I think it is an awesome opportunity, we can often get stuck in the college bubble, like working with people the same age all the time and the same issues. I think it’s really important to step outside of that, learn new things, get to know new people or new place. It’s a really cool opportunity.”

A Hawley church is hosting the students.
