Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - A week from now the fun begins as the baseball season gets underway.
Twins fans are holding their optimism at bay, considering the team is coming off three consecutive 90 loss seasons.
The team has made its mind up on a fifth starter in the rotation, that will go to Kyle Gibson who along with Ricky Nolasco and Phil Hughes need to solidify a staff that has been rocked the last couple of years as Minnesota is eager to move out of the basement...
Ron Gardenhire/Twins Manager (FSN) : “We have been kind of scuffling through that we have had some big injuries and I think basically 2011 and 12 was basically the same thing, last year we just weren't very good. No excuses, we have to get better at playing fundamental baseball and get back to the things that we use to do. That was kind of taking the game to other people and not letting them take it to us. It starts with pitching giving you a chance and we have set out to sign some pitching, we added a couple of big guys here who we think can get us to the second half of the game.”
Twins were rained out today; they made several moves including sending Chris Hermann to the minors and releasing Matt Guerrier.
