Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A judge Monday set bail at $1 million for a 19-year-old Fargo man charged with murdering a man after a drug deal gone bad.
Wade Garrett made his first court appearance today after turning himself into Police in connection with the murder of Rolandos House.
There are two things in this case that already stand out as unusual; Court Documents reveal Wade Garrett told his employer Friday morning he would no longer need health insurance because he was turning himself in for murder charges.
He also made a trip to Minneapolis to say "goodbye" to his mother and grandmother.
Rolandos House was found in the wee hours of Friday morning near Cashwise South in Fargo - with multiple stab wounds.
Court Documents state House had stolen money and marijuana from Wade Garrett during a drug deal at the West Acres Mall.
At 12:20a.m. officers responded to a possible car crash and fight in the Cashwise parking lot.
Two males at the scene, Devin Ludwig and Carlos Balabo, believed to be acquaintances of Garrett’s reported hearing a female state 'Wade just stabbed him.”
At this time - no one besides Garrett has been charged; State's Attorney Birch Burdick says this case is fairly uncommon in the F-M area.
Birch Burdick/Cass County State’s Attorney: “We have had murders that have happened here that appear to be drug related. In any case its cause is less perhaps important than who did it and that we can hold them accountable for what they've done.”
Garrett will be back in court for a preliminary hearing April 16th.
