Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - For the first time since 2009, North Dakota State is an option on the most popular bracket in the world, the NCAA basketball tournament.

NDSU is a 12-seed and will meet 5th seeded Oklahoma Thursday at 6:27 central time in Spokane, Washington.

NDSU received the highest bid for the Summit League in nearly twenty years this afternoon as they grabbed a 12 seed in the West region and for the second time in their NCAA tournament history will match up with a Big 12 school this time, Oklahoma.

Saul Phillips/2014 Summit League Coach of the Year: “They are extremely efficient offensive and defensive team similar to us they play in a conference as good as any in the nation and a coach who's going to be a Hall of Famer, other than that should be easy.”

Marshall Bjorklund/NDSU Sr. Forward: “Once we heard the news is kind of time to buckle down, didn't come this far to lay down we're going to go out there and give them our best shot.”

Taylor Braun/2014 Summit League Player of the Year: “For me I want to make some noise in this tournament not just make it there and get crushed and go home I'm extremely focused and just really looking forward to preparing.”

Phillips: “You accomplished one goal, good, now move on we made the tournament, now re-focus and see what you can do, our guys had big plans bigger than what we've done so far.”

Some familiar themes about this match up the Bison and Sooners have been before in softball, the Bison knocked off the Sooners in 2009, the setting is also mighty familiar for Bison fans, Spokane is just down the road from Cheney, Washington, the home of Eastern Washington, the last team to beat the Bison in the FCS Playoffs.

If NDSU wins, it will meet the winner of San Diego State and New Mexico State.
