Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The NCAA basketball tournament selection committee has spoken.

The Summit League Champion NDSU Bison men's basketball team now knows it will be the 12th seed in the West region and heading to Spokane.

Their opponent will be the University of Oklahoma.

"March is the best month of the year, in my opinion."

Travis Jones has always been a Bison fan; the last time they made it to the big dance, he was still in high school.

Now a senior at NDSU he says the experience is a little different.

Travis Jones/NDSU Student: "It's awesome. The NCAA tournament is pretty much the biggest event of the year in sports. The national exposure is sweet and being a part of it is even better."

The Bison faithful packed the BSA to share Selection Sunday with fellow fans; and it's not just the students and players that are excited.

The next generation of Bison are just as pumped at the team's success.

Jacob Trageton/Bison Fan: "They're not a Big 10 school, they're small. And they're making it for the second time."

Of course, now that the team's place in the tournament has been revealed, it's time to talk about where to cheer them on from.

Jones says he'll be watching though a trip to Spokane may not be in the cards.

Jones: "See if I can talk dad into it, to head out there. But will probably just end up staying here and watching at home."

"It's just fun. Go Bison!"
