Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Our coverage of the Class A state tournament finished with a doozy last night, as the Davies Eagles took down Bismarck St. Mary's, 62-55 for the program's first state title.

Just four years ago this night wouldn't have seemed possible for Davies. They won five games in their first year. Fast forward four years later and they're state champions.

Andrew Kozlowski/16 Points, 6 rebounds last night: “It means everything. To start from nothing and not even having a home gym to fighting through the obstacles of that. Having people talk if we're the real deal or not to just 4 years down the road being state champions means the world.”

Tanner Kretchman/2014 Mr. Basketball Winner: “It means everything. It's what we've been working for the entire season. Our team battled. We went through some ups and downs and then we've been playing our best basketball toward the end of the season and it's just awesome. Beforehand, we were trying to think of what it would be like if this happened and you can't. It's just awesome and I wouldn't want to do it with any other guys.”

Bart Manson/Davies Head Coach: “Our 6 seniors are real special to me and being with my dad here was special too. Being back here in Minot was special too. There were just a lot of things going through my mind. It just gives you a sense of accomplishment.”

Gene Manson/10th State Championship Game Appearance: “Any time you have a father-son, I don't know if there is another one in North Dakota that's been that way. It's something a guy could check on. But, this is pretty special for our family.”

Kozlowski: “As soon as that buzzer sounded I had memories running through my head from when I started playing basketball with Tanner actually back in fifth grade and as a freshman at Davies. It has been an incredible journey.”
