Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - It's been 14 years since the Oak Grove Grovers basketball team was able to celebrate a state championship.

That all ended Saturday night in a thriller in Grand Forks.

Oak Grove topped Rugby in overtime 68-58.

Two teams throwing punches at one another all night.

In fact, Carter Kretchman looked like a boxer at the end of the game; but he also played like a basketball player.

He was legendary; 36 points as the Grovers win their first state championship since 2000.

CK: "I don't remember much, all I remember is the guy went up for a rebound and he came down and his elbow clocked me right in the eye, but other than that I don't remember much. There was no way I was gonna go out of that game, I didn't want to go out of that game."

KC: "I've said it before, he crosses half court you better guard him that three he hit to send it to overtime was deep, a lot of people where like wow, I'm like nope I'll take that shot anytime. And he wants the ball but he'd be the first to tell you it's about his teammates they got him good looks it's a team effort from everybody."

CK: "It's pretty special but I'd say it's much more special as the team winning the State Championship, it feels much more special as the team winning the State."

KC: "When you've got Carter Kretchman on your team you are not out of a game and he's proved that all year long and we've got some great kids and everyone stepped up and made plays."

KC: "He gets kinda an unsung hero but I heard tonight he had 17 rebounds and he knows his job, clean up rebounds and and get up and down the floor and it's special I could have hugged him for an hour I think, it was extra special."

NC: "It doesn't get any better than that, my senior year to win a state championship with my dad coaching, it's the best feeling in the world."
