Lake Tahoe, CA (CNN) - An injured bear forced part of a ski resort at Lake Tahoe, California to close Monday. Wildlife officials had to rescue the animal and get it treated.

KCRA3 was there as the injured bear was brought into Lake Tahoe's Wildlife Care Center; the same bear that sparked a buzz of reaction and shut down part of heavenly ski resort for the morning because it was found on a ski run. X-rays taken right after the bear was rescued showed no broken bones just open wounds and trauma.

Tom Millham – Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc.: “Anything could have caused it, a coyote, dogs, a fall down a mountain.”

Wildlife officials say when they weighed the bear it weighed 49 pounds. When asked whether this incident was yet another impact of the drought the answer was immediate and definite.

Reporter: “Is this yet another example of the drought?”

Cheryl Millham – Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc: “Yes, definitely.”

That's because Wildlife Care officials say in a normal winter this bear likely never would have wandered out on a ski run this early in March.

Cheryl Millham: “He should still be sleeping for another month, in hibernation, but because of this up and down weather we are seeing chipmunks out a month early, we're getting robins coming out early. The wildlife is reacting to the drought.”
