Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's a big weekend for comic fans all around the country -it's almost like Black Friday.
But they call it Halloween Comic fest.
Galen Brewer/Comic Junction: "Alternate version of them for a different universe have come and taken over and they are of course evil."
Ok, we know for some of you - including me - we're stepping into a completely different realm.
But take a look at this inventory.
Brewer: "Anything basically based off of fairy tales. And there are several titles going on about that right now."
Each week publishers ship out big loads of comics to this little-tiny shop.
And poor Galen Brewer has to sort it all out.
Brewer: "Hard to just keep track of it all."
Amazing enough, each story will find a home of its own.
Emma Hetland/Buys Comics: "Archie is a teenager that, he is very clumsy and he has a lot of friends at his high school."
Like in Emma's bookshelf, one well stocked, full of Archie comics.
Unlike her classmates
Hetland: "A few, not really very many."
And there's not too many people here either so what gives?
Brewer: "Not a lot of people know about it compared to free comic book day."
I guess Halloween Comic Fest isn't as big of a hit.
Brewer: "The difference is pretty much night and day - for how many people are here."
So, does that mean comics are finally fading out?
You might think so.
But it's quite the opposite.
According to sales, comics are making a comeback. This year they’ve already sold 30,000 new copies.
Brewer: "I actually think they're just becoming more popular at least with a lot of the movies that are being made today."
It's because of movies like Spiderman, Batman, and the most-recent Avengers that have spiked the popularity.
Total sales soaring roughly over 8,000 copies, each year in just the last decade.
If you're looking to get your hands on some free comics, Comic Junction says they should have some left over for the next few days.
