Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - As people start the long recovery process in Oklahoma, it reminds us all about how natural disasters can turn our lives completely upside-down.
With a couple simple downloads from your app store, you can prepare for the worst because there are apps for that.
The summer storm season is upon us. Are you ready if the worst would happen? If you have your smartphone in hand, you can make sure you are, and FEMA's app can help. It shows you what you exactly need for different emergencies, so you can prepare today.
And when tragedy does strike like in Moore, Oklahoma, the FEMA App keeps you informed, has resources, and walks you through how to register for help and even has info on disaster recovery centers and shelters.
While the American Red Cross' App can also help you prepare for natural disasters like tornados, the flooding in Cavalier or wildfires like we just saw in Park Rapids, it's not just about storms.
It's useful anytime you head outdoors during the summer. Treatments for ailments from A to Z are right in the app.
From choking to stings, to heart attacks and strokes to burns and broken bones and head injuries, even allergies.
The Red Cross app even has interactive quizzes so you can study up on how to treat injuries and earn badges to show off to your friends.
You won't be stuck Googling, wasting precious time during emergencies. You'll just be ready.
Both apps also have information on how to donate during disasters. Both apps are free in the Google Play and Apple Markets.
