Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - If Earth Week has inspired you this year and you're looking for more ways to go green, your smartphone can help.
De-cluttering your countertops can help the environment and there's an app for that.
Catalogs, fliers, credit card offers, magazines, even phone books. Many of us get barraged with them on a daily basis. If your mailbox if overflowing with unwanted mail, the PaperKarma app can help you take control and stop it.
It works pretty simply. You type in your information, then take a picture of the offending mail. You want to show the information that will link PaperKarma back to the mail, the return address or just the title sometimes is all it needs. Then click unsubscribe me.
PaperKarma then contacts the company for you and tells them you no longer want their junk mail. It gets you off their mailing list
You can track the progress and information about your requests right in the app. PaperKarma usually reaches people within the first day but it can take a couple weeks for you to truly notice a difference in your mailbox.
Although PaperKarma can't stop everything, it can take a big dent out of the paper clutter, helping you Save the Earth and get that good karma with the environment.
Paper Karma is free and available on the Google Play, Apple and Windows markets.
