Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Fargo police need your help in tracking down a gun missing from last Friday's armed robbery.
Authorities say the 15-year-old male suspect who robbed Bottle Barn in South Fargo must have discarded his gun while fleeing the scene.
Fargo Police believe the gun is somewhere between 1-94 and 25th Avenue South, and 14th Street South to about 19th Street South. So they're using the Code Red system to notify people living or working in the area and ask for their help in the search
Lt. Joel Vettel/Fargo Police: "We've done all we can as a police department, a very exhaustive search over several days and this is just one more tool in our toolbox utilizing the assistance of the citizens of Fargo."
Police have been searching for the firearm ever since the suspect allegedly held up two people at gunpoint near Bottle Barn around 9 last friday night.
They say he probably dropped the gun while trying to escape to avoid more serious charges.
Authorities are asking the public to check their backyards and other private property to help in the investigation.
Vettel: "Certainly evidential value of the firearm to the case is certainly the primary concern for that and we always try to make sure that we have everything we need to have an effective prosecution in these types of events."
Anyone who finds the weapon is asked to call the Fargo police department.
